THE LEAD SIGNAL SpaceX bought airwaves. The phone carriers paid for it.SpaceX agreed late Thursday to buy nationwide 800 MHz airwaves from Grain Management, a private investment firm. Neither side disclosed a price. People familiar with the deal put it near $8 billion. The three big carriers lost about $58 billion in value on Friday, net of that day's dividends. T-Mobile fell about 13%. AT&T and Verizon each fell about 9% to 10% on the same basis. Tower owners rose instead. Crown Castle gained about 16%, and American Tower and SBA Communications rose 7% to 9%. Together they added more than $10 billion. SpaceX shares rose about 1%. The deal still needs FCC approval. SpaceX has not said when service on these airwaves will start or what it will cost. Morgan Stanley analysts said even a satellite-centered network could require towers, rooftops and small cells. A Verizon spokesman called the spectrum "empty airwaves" without a network to use it. A Rival Priced Before It Exists The carriers lost about seven times the reported cost of the spectrum. That loss prices in a fourth national rival. The tower gains suggest investors expect that rival to rent existing towers. AT&T reports Oct. 21, Verizon Oct. 26 and T-Mobile Oct. 28. Those reports are the first test.
FROM OUR PARTNERS Ex-CIA Analyst Warns: "Trump could create chaos with Russia and China.”Donald Trump is preparing a move that could reshape global power — and spark massive gains for early investors. Former CIA analyst Dr. Mark Skousen warns Trump’s hardline stance on China and Russia could ignite a global fight over critical minerals used in AI chips, EVs, and U.S. weapons systems. When the government quietly took stakes in similar companies, stocks surged 200%–300%+ in weeks. Now Skousen says the NEXT target is a tiny $5 American company — already backed by Tesla and $130M+ in U.S. grants. See his urgent briefing and the stock name here.
THE CROSS-CURRENTS AI lenders are asking more from borrowers without a big parent.JPMorgan is marketing a $5 billion loan for Volta Infrastructure at an all-in yield of about 11%. About $3.7 billion finances roughly 36,000 Nvidia chips. The rest backs a data-center lease in Norway. The loan is unrated, and commitments are due Oct. 14. Terms moved against the borrower during marketing. Early talks in September floated a spread of about 5 percentage points. The current range is 6.25 to 6.50. Two U.S. public pensions, in Florida and Arizona, are holding off on new data-center fund commitments. They cited valuations and local pushback against new construction. The Price of a Short Track Record Chip debt now costs more when the borrower has little operating history. One reading is healthy price discovery, since 11% can still draw private credit funds. The other is a strained financing chain, with price talk wider in a month and collateral that loses value fast. Final pricing after Oct. 14 will show which reading holds.
THE PREDICTION MARKET LAYER A pledge and a poll each met a contract on Friday.A Polymarket contract on the U.S.-Iran ceasefire holding through Nov. 3 traded near 72 to 74 cents late Friday. That implies about a 27% chance of a qualifying U.S. strike before the midterms. The president pledged Thursday there would be none. U.S. officials have described options for about three days of strikes. No decision has been made. AtlasIntel's runoff survey put Flávio Bolsonaro ahead 52.8% to 47.2% of valid votes. It was the third runoff poll since the first round to put him ahead. A Vox Brasil poll has Lula slightly ahead. Polymarket's contract on his win traded near 89 cents late Friday. A smaller Polymarket book prices the margin in valid votes. A Flávio win by 4 to 8 points was the most likely band, near 47%. A finish within 4 points either way drew about 35%. The vote is Oct. 25. Same Date, Different Promise The contract counts only U.S. strikes that hit Iranian land or internal waters. The pledge did not spell out what it covers. The book is young, so modest orders can move it. Iran's reply to the latest U.S. proposal is the event most likely to test the price.

THE FORETELL LENS Every major price on Friday ran ahead of its proof. Carriers, bond buyers and AI lenders priced outcomes still pending. In Brazil, the winner traded near 89 cents, while a finish within 4 points drew about 35%. Sure of Direction, Unsure of Size Friday's markets were confident about direction and split on size. The carriers' loss assumes a rival of unknown scale and timing. If the evidence comes in smaller, the bets on size have the most to give back.
FINAL FRAME Friday paid in advance, from phone carriers to bond buyers to AI lenders. The proof for each arrives on its own schedule. What is priced: a December hike near 73%, a U.S. strike on Iran before Nov. 3 near 27%, and a Flávio Bolsonaro win near 89%. What these prices can't settle yet: a SpaceX network, a CPI print, or Iran's reply. Capital moves early. Coverage catches up. The gap between the two is worth watching.
3 STOCKS OUR SIGNAL ENGINE SAYS TO WATCH CAREFULLY Three stocks. Three signals. Two weeks later, the story changed. On September 2, we published three market questions around KLAC, HPE and PG&E. Two weeks later, every one of them produced new evidence. One company delivered record revenue and raised its outlook. Another saw weakness spread across its entire peer group. And in the third, a market risk that had only been showing up beneath the surface suddenly became explicit. Yet none of these stories is finished. That’s why we built Market Tell. To track the signals that keep moving after the headline is gone — and show you what investors should be watching next.
